Shiner is one of my very, very favorite writers. Glimpses is easily in my top five favorite novels. I can think of no one who has written about music with as much eloquence and perception as Lewis Shiner. Outside the Gates of Eden is being hailed as his best book. Published by Subterranean, William Schafer makes the extravagant claim that it is the best novel they have ever published. I believe it. subterraneanpress.com/outside-the-gates-of-eden

I read BLACK AND WHITE and was underwhelmed. Should I try again?

Yes. Try Glimpses. Or Slam.
