This weekend, I finished reading INFIDEL by Pornsak Pichetshote and Aaron Campbell, which is a chilling modern monster tale. What are some other excellent graphic novels I should check out?

You're right, Deena. INFIDEL was great!
I'd strongly suggest Scott Snyder's SEVERED. That's probably my favorite horror comic.
I also liked Joe Hill's LOCKE AND KEY, PREACHER, and any of Garth Ennis' PUNISHER comics

I enjoyed PREACHER very much. My husband Matt read LOCKE AND KEY and liked the series a lot. I'll check out SEVERED!

Graphic novels aren't my thing, but I hear My Favorite Thing is Monsters is really good.

MY FAVORITE THING IS MONSTERS was good, but I wouldn't count it amongst my favorites. I'm in the minority there though; I expected to like it more than I did
I thought of some others: MY FRIEND DAHMER is good. WE3 is more sci-fi, but love it. Jonathan Maberry's BAD BLOOD is good. And maybe my favorite, I KILL GIANTS

Didn't they make a movie of I KILL GIANTS? Have you seen it? Is it as good as the source material? I remember liking the trailer.

I've considered trying to get some old Warren comics, or maybe the Boris Karloff Tales of Mystery. I liked that stuff when I was a kid. But the bound omnibus editions are not cheap. Besides I much prefer straight prose over illustrated fiction.

I'm in the middle of a YA graphic novel called Feathers that's creepy and sweet. It's worth checking out!

I recently got a copy of the trade paperback graphic adaptation of the Lansdale story, Bubba Ho-Tep and the Cosmic Bloodsuckers. I am giving it a chance because the writer, Joshua Jabcuga, is a big Horror Drive-In fan, and he praised my book recently. I hadn't heard of him until very recently.

I did my best to keep it very faithful to Mighty Joe's source material. I have yet to meet anyone who read his book, and then my adaptation, and compared/contrasted. I tended to lean into the darker bits here and there, but when your source material originates from one of the modern masters, why mess with the recipe, right? He and I discussed a follow-up to the adaptation, which would have seen more adventures of Elvis and his team battling other types of monsters during different decades/eras of the King's career, but the publisher ultimately passed. Another publisher did a crossover between the "Bubba" property and "Army of Darkness"...but I wasn't involved, and I think Joe's involvement was minimum at best. That series came out after my adaptation. I didn't have the heart to read it, because I'd grown too attached to the property, and *if* we did go through with our follow-up series, I didn't want to be influenced by any of that writer's work. It's a moot point now, but that was my reasoning for not reading the crossover at the time. Mark--this is my 3rd series for IDW (the first being a prequel to the Scarface movie, the second being a tie-in to the Mummy franchise)...those were very early in my career and for the most part, if I see them, it's a bit like looking at my high school year book. Some good memories, but mostly a learning experience that I prefer to keep tucked away out of sight. With that being said, I did work on a run of Creepy/Twilight Zone-style B&W magazines for IDW called DOOMED Magazine. I interviewed Paul Wilson, David J Schow, Jack Ketchum (about Robert Bloch), and then in the 4th and final issue, I did an adaptation of a Bloch short story. I'm very proud of being part of that short-lived series (only 4 issues), and DOOMED is actually a series you may dig (though they require some tracking down...even I have only my contributor copies at this point).
