I hear a lot of praise for new authors, especially in the small press realm, and I end up disappointed when I try them out. Once in a while, though, I am blown away. Such was the case with Benjamin Percy.
Percy has written extensively in the comics field, but he has several novels in print. I chose one called The Dark Net, and I loved it. This guy is good. I'm talking good like Peter Straub is good. The Dark Net is a literary, scary, highly original piece of horror fiction, and I loved it.
My wife Clara has been reading Percy's werewolf saga, Red Moon, and she is equally impressed. I'll be reading it soon.

Thanks for the rec. Never heard of the author, but I’ll add Dark Net to the list.

I had Dark Net on my list, but I took it off and I don't remember why

Nope, nope...I’d remember a cat named Fenny.

It sounds to me like you need to read Ghost Story, young man.

Welcome Pinhaead and Among! Don't I know you guys from somewhere? You may know me from my well-respected and insightful reviews.
... Or, you were in my kindergarten class and remember me as the kid that crapped in his pants all the time

I’m listening to Red Moon. Benjamin Percy is the perfect reader of his own story, the voice of a werewolf. His writing is elegant and gripping. I’m heading toward the end and am not certain of the outcome which is always a bonus. It is not at all predictable.

I started reading a couple different small press books this weekend, but despite praise heaped upon them, I was not enjoying them. I figured it was time to get back to Percy. I began Red Moon this afternoon and I plowed through seventy-five pages at a quick clip. Benjamin Percy is the real thing.
I've heartily recommended Percy to quite a few readers, but my words seem to have fallen on mostly deaf ears.
