I had a good day hunting books yesterday. I got a couple for my collection, and some to hopefully sell. I have a table reserved for the Scares That Care weekend this year.
The big one for me is a nice Tor hardcover of T.M. Wright's The School. I also got an improved edition of Heinlein's Friday, for my RAH collection. I got a nice old hardback of Asimov's Nine Tomorrows. A couple of David Martin hardcovers. An Oxford University Press M.R. James collection. Lansdale's The Thicket. F. Paul Wilson's underrated Sims. A few other paperbacks that I got for fifty cents and hope to get a dollar for.
Book hunting is fun, and Clara and I love supporting local libraries by patronizing their book sales. And if I can put the same books in the hands of readers who will (hopefully) enjoy them, all the better.

Ah. I liked both of those, but I would've bought CRAZY LOVE from you. One of my all time faves (believe it or not)

Well, you like Kristin Hannah, so it's not so surprising. Crazy Love is in my top five favorite books.

I raved about Crazy Love in the Shocklines days, and a few smart people took the recommendation.

I'm willing to bet that I was one of those people. I don't remember who gave the rec, but I know that I read it in the Shocklines era, so in all probability it WAS you.
It's one of those few books that I loved so much that I actually remember where and when I was reading it. I was in Los Angeles recording an album and I was reading in on the floor of the studio with a flashlight while everyone else was sleeping

We hit a library sale last night. We usually score big at the Hampton, VA sale, but it was only so-so this time. I did find this cool little number: Some people make me sick, though. I can't stand the ones who show up with their scanners, trying to find anything that might earn them a few bucks. OK, I know they have as much right to be there as I do, and they aren't breaking any laws or anything. But I don't have to like them. There was this one prick...a twenty-something with a scanner. He ran to the DVD section and was practically shoving people out of his way to get to them all first. I felt like dragging him out the door and depositing him in the dumpster. On the other hand, Clara and I have been going to the Friends of the Library preview on Thursday nights. We've been seeing many of the same faces, and most people are there for the love of the hunt. Looking for things that will please their own hearts. They are the ones I love.

Aaaaand, I just checked our local library system, and they no longer have any books by David Martin, damn! And another thing that got me annoyed about our library system is that they got RID of their copy of Northern Frights 5, that included a story by ME, a local author! Damn, damn and double damn!

I don't even see books by old favorites like Charles Grant among the discarded items at the library sales anymore. These people are being swept under the rug and forgotten.

We're hitting a big flea market today. I don't expect much in the way of books, but we'll see.
