I take Stephen King's literary recommendations seriously. I don't agree with him all the time, but I do a lot. Earlier this year I took his advice and loved Charlesgate Confidential.
King loved a novel called November Road, by Lou Berney. I hadn't heard of the author, but a quick look showed that he has been writing acclaimed suspense for a while now. November Road is his new one and the price at both Amazon and B&N is very reasonable. I ordered it last night.

Funny you bring this up, as yesterday I also saw a rave review from King and added it to my wish list. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it.

Don Winslow has been talking about this for three or four months now. He convinced me. I got my copy last week.

I've read one Winslow and it was brilliant. The Force. What a hell of a movie it would make.

Um, no. No. Five pages in and I hated it. It seemed to be trying way too hard to be icy cool.

I read it, and loved it... up until the last 30 pages... which were just wrong. There’s some lovely stuff in it along the way, but it is essentially a slightly off Thelma and Louise...
