While I think about it - because man it really has been a long time since we all chatted...
I mentioned back on the old Horror Drive-In that I'd been working on the last of Terry's books, an inversion on the classic ghost story theme he loved, to be published by Pete Crowther's brilliant PS, right? Well, the novel, Mallam Cross, is wrapped up, the cover, end papers etc are all designed, and we're basically at the sig sheet stage for it. I've heard whispers that they're thinking of doing printed arcs for trade so PW, Kirkus etc, and aiming for good sales into libraries etc so Terry's last story is more widely available.
I'm incredibly proud of the book. It took the best part of two years to really get to grasp with it, and included scouring hundreds of emails we'd shared over the years, snippets of interviews etc. I wish the old Shocklines posts had been there as a form of archive so I could have added more of his wit and wisdom to certain scenes, but in the end I think what we've got is a wonderful endcap to our friend's career.
And, you'll notice the best of - now, here's something you might not know... I unearthed a lost TM story, Otto's Conundrum, which has never been published, and which is going in the trade edition of the best of, along with several novellas and shorts he wrote during his long career.
It's all going to be announced for order very soon in the PS newsletter -
