Music lovers usually get excited around this time of year, as concerts are being planned. Clara and I have tickets to see a few 2019 shows.
First up is the legendary Nick Lowe, along with Los Straitjackets. They are playing in a cool little spot in NC where we saw the great Lemon Twigs last year. The show is officially called Nick Lowe's Quality Rock and Roll Revival.
After that is the venerable NRBQ at a small venue in Virginia Beach. I'm a relative newcomer to the marvels of NRBQ, and I'm excited as hell to be seeing them.
And this summer Weird Al will be doing an orchestral tour. He's coming fairly close to us, but it's on a weekenight. So we have tix to see the show on a Saturday night in July, down in Cary, NC.
That's all for now. How about you?

I'll be seeing Webb Wilder in June.
In August, I'll be seeing Alice Cooper, with Halestorm, in Nashville.
My concert-going days are mostly over now. Too expensive, too much hassle.

I've got a few lined up:
Winger and Firehouse this month
After the Burial and Killswitch Engage in April
Veil of Maya in April
Thy art is murder in May
Iron Maiden in August
Plus, the gigs that my own band plays, which I don't count

Just because they were a few miles down the road I went to see 10CC the other day, and don't mind admitting they put on a cracking show.

I saw Yes in concert this past Summer. No Jon Anderson, but Jon Davidson did a fine job on lead vocals. He depends a bit more on his falsetto than Jon Anderson does. That dude is 70+ years old, and still has his range. I'm going to see him April 1st. He's got a new solo album that drops March 31st. there probably aren't many Yes fans who are also horror fans. But I love them. I've seen them three times.

Try being a horror fan who likes New Wave...
I saw Yes in the late seventies and again in the eighties. The second time was the tour with the guys from The Buggles. Both were great shows.

I took my two oldest boys to their first concert the other day--Metallica. It was my 8th Metallica show. Toad the Wet Sprocket is coming by in June, and I'd like to see them again. Also, Gojira is playing this summer. I'll have to see how money looks when it gets closer.

Ah, you're not seeing Weird Al in Richmond? That's where we have tickets. I'm also excited about seeing The Lonely Island in June.

Hi Deena, yeah, it's NC for the Weird Al orchestral show. Mid-week Richmond shows are too much for us these days. With all our plans I have no spare vacation days, and getting out the door at 5:00 in the morning is tough enough as it is for me.
And now I find out that Ben Folds is playing in the same place in Cary, NC in June. Right near my birthday. I've made the drive down there dozens of times, and I enjoy it. Plus there are cool bookstores and the big flea market there.
