I've been a fan since Hap and Leonard graced the pages of Savage Season way back in the 80's. I've enjoyed every book, and the last one, Jackrabbit Smile, ended on a particularly disquieting note. I'm really looking forward to The Elephant of Surprise.
In anticipation I am rereading Joe's breakout novel, The Bottoms. I remember when The Bottoms first came out, back in 2000. I was new to the whole message board things, but we had a strong forum going on. Quite a few of us were already big Lansdale fans, and we were excited as hell for The Bottoms to come out. It's holding up wonderfully.

I'm looking forward to this one, too. THE BOTTOMS is probably my favorite novel of all time. It's cool to see Joe out and about promoting the new book!

I just reread The Bottoms! I'm still waiting for the library to have my copy of The Elephant of Surprise ready for me.

I finally got Elephant last night. I'm nearly done. This is a fast-paced story. I usually do not love it when books start off with intense action, preferring to get to know the characters and their backgrounds before the shit hits the fan. In this case I know the characters as well as I've ever known any from any book.
Joe said he is taking a Hap and Leonard break after The Elephant of Surprise. I hope it isn't a long one.
