Last year was a big one for us. Clara and I did our first Stokercon. We mainly went to see Robert McCammon, who was wonderful. It paid off because I was all set to self-publish He Who Types Between the Rows, but Norman Prentiss offered to do it with Cemetery Dance during a conversation there.
I've worn various hats in my involvement in the community, and my latest is bookseller. I had a table at Scares That Care last year, and it was a gigantic success. So I will have one there again in 2020. I also have one at a small SF con called RavenCon, as well as at a brand new show called Tidewater Horror Convention.
My tables take me away from a lot of the events, but I love it. I love talking books and horror with fans. And seeing someone light up at finding something really makes my day.
I spend a lot of time hunting down books to sell. We are off to a library sale in a little while. I sell cheap, and when you add in the time I invest into it, and the initial investment, along with what doesn't sell, I don't do a lot more than break even. But as I said, I love it. Books are my passion and I always dreamed of selling at conventions.
