You guys watched this on Netflix, right? Based on Jonathan Maberry's work.
My first thought was "oh no, not another white guy with a sassy black side-kick," but honestly I think Adrian Holmes got the better role. His character has more depth and more range of emotion and he did a wonderful job with it. Plus, he's Welsh-Canadian, what could be better?
I liked the series, totally dig how it feels like you are watching a comic book, and hope they will keep going and make more episodes.

We have not. The days when I sat in front of a TV every night are behind me. We are too busy and time spent with books is more precious to me.
I doubt I would anyway. I tried two Maberry books and I didn't like either one. Ghost Road Blues and the one where he was trying so hard to write like Heinlein. He just isn't for me.

I don't watch a lot of tv, but I make time in my schedule each week to embrace some form of popular culture that is either tv or film or stage. I love my reading time, but sometimes it is really fun to let a visual artist show you what they were thinking of and learn from another's perspective.
Before V Wars, I watched The Blacklist and really enjoyed James Spader in his role as Red Reddington. It's a spy thriller that takes place in Washington, D.C. The show has excellent writers and you lovers of genre fiction will enjoy some of the killers they hunt down.

I sometimes miss being a movie geek. People used to call me Movie Mark, back in the glorious days of VHS, and I had a whole station for watching and taping. Two televisions and three VCRs. Not that I ever pirated movies for profit. I made a lot of tapes for people, as well as for myself. And I watched a LOT of movies.
Things have changed. I am a lot older and I am busier than I ever have been. It would be nice, and fair, if I could begin to slow down, as I turn 59 this year, but that is not in the cards. I'm up at four every morning, out the door by five. I'm often not home until five that afternoon. Add in the maintenance a life requires, like preparing and eating food, doing house stuff, spending real time with Clara, and even starting a forum again, I am usually lucky to get 20-30 minutes to read before it's time to turn off the lights.
Plus I am in full old crank mode. I don't much like most movies nowadays. I don't care at all for digital photography, effects, and editing. The huge influence of comics to movies does not interest me in the least. Now I know how the old foges felt when they were saying that 80's movies sucked. Full circle.
If I had more time I would watch more. For now, books bring me the peace and contentment I require to continue on.
What I don't know is, how the hell I used to do it! Back in the first several years of HD-I, I was a heavy forum user, I regularly wrote reviews and commentaries, I had a demanding job, I spent time with my family, I read a lot, and I watched at least a movie a night. I get dizzy thinking about it now.
The good things about right now are plentiful. I am making more money than I ever thought I would make. I am in relationship with the woman I should have always been with. I have a family who loves me. I have my book collection on full display, on nice shelves and it is better than it has ever been. I published a book this year. And I'm still here at Horror Drive-In, along with some of my old friends.
