I am really lacking in my reading of Grant over the years.
I've never read one of his collections, though I have generally liked his short stories when I have come across them over the years in different anthologies.
I read his novel The Pet back in the '80s (I believe) and it just kind of turned me off of any further exploration of his works.
I have his Little Black Book on pre-order, so maybe that will change my outlook on his work.

Really well-written CD article, Mark! Hey, I didn't know you lived on a boat for a while. For how long? I think that's awesome.
You already know I am a big fan of Grant. I'm friends with his wife on Facebook (at least I think it's her, you never know) and enjoy her stories of Charlie.

I lived on the workboat for around four months. A difficult but good time. No running water of any kind, but I made do. For a couple of bucks I could shower at the marina where it was docked. I was very new to horror fiction and I spent most evenings huddled by the kerosene heater and reading. Try reading James Herbert's The Rats while knowing that very large wharf rats prowled the area at night.
Kathy Ptacek is definitely who she says she is. I've bought copies of Grant books from her. She's a really nice lady and a pretty good writer too.
