I used to love John Skipp and Craig Spector. Still do, in fact. Those days are precious to me. I can hardly look at the books with any degree of subjectivity. I was so in love with horror and Skipp and Spector represented the most exciting trends of the day.
Their solo stuff has been all right. I don't like any of it as much as I did the books they boys did together.
Skipp and Goodfellow did Jake's Wake, which I thought was pretty good. For some reason I never got around to Spore. I have tried to read it twice, but I always get bogged down. It isn't BAD, but I always seem to be in the mood for something else.

Read Spore a couple of years ago.
It was an interesting premise, but ultimately ended up being an average novel.

Like you I was a big fan of their work back in the late '80s - earlier '90s. I especially remember liking The Cleanup & The Light at the End of the Tunnel. Of their solo stuff over the last decade (and in the case of Skipp, his collaborations), not so much. B
