I just agreed to be on the Committee to select the 2018 Lifetime Achievement recipient to be awarded at the 2019 StokerCon. Requirements are: 1. must be at least 60 years old 2. Contributed a significant influence and produced an important impact on the genre.
I invite any of you to make suggestions which I can parade before the Committee, which maintains a list of nominees (46 names at this point)
I will tell you if your suggestion is already on the list.
My only caveat is that you include evidence of accomplishment that supports your nomination(s)
Thanks for tuning in.

How about Kathryn Ptacek? She has written some really good fiction, edited influential anthologies, and was the editor and publisher of an important writer's/market guide for years.
Thomas Tessier brought literary sensibilities to horror fiction when the was sorely lacking, and his writing foreshadowed elements that were pervasive in later years.
David Morrell, for writing some of the finest short horror fiction ever published.
John Maclay, a pioneer of independent horror publishing and a tragically underrated author of fiction.

Chet Williamson for being one of the best writers of the 8's boom, for being one of the best audiobook narrators in the business, and for being one of the only writers who could fit Robert Blcoh's shoes and write an authentic Psycho sequel. Hell, Psycho Sanitarium blows Psycho House away.

Each committee member has to submit five names for consideration. I currently have ten and can't winnow it down yet.
Here's what I came up with--basing it on the originality of their work, the significant impact and influence on the genre, and the critical acceptance of their peers. Lots of good writers out there, but if their body of work is a bit thin, they cannot be on my list.
David Cronenberg
George R R Martin
Thomas Ligotti
David Morrell
Dan Simmons
Stuart David Schiff
Tom Doherty
Jo Fletcher
Douglas Winter Jonathan Maberry
Any thoughts from the rabble?
