I've read a couple of books by this guy, and man he is good. Brennert is a Hollywood bigshot, or at least he used to be. He produced L.A. Law and was one of the creative team of the 1980's Twilight Zone show. Alan Brennert is also a Nebula-winning writer of fiction.
Brennert wrote a few very popular historical novels set in Hawaii. I haven't read those yet, but I plan to. These books were big in the reading club circles.
So far I've read a historical novel about the famed Palisades Park amusement park, and a fantasy called Time and Chance. I've loved them both, but the latter especially moved me. I have no trouble comparing it to the work of Richard Matheson and Jack Finney.
Oh yeah, Alan Brennert also did a lot of comic writing, particularly with acclaimed work with the Batman character.
Isn't it wonderful to find a "new" writer whose work you love, and who has a substantial body of work to discover?
