Do you regularly attend any horror cons? Do you have plans to do so in the future?
I love conventions. Not so much for meeting celebrities, though I do enjoy that. More so to engage with fellow fans. I love talking about books and movies, and it isn't so easy to do so in the humdrum everyday world.
We regularly attend Scares That Care Weekend, and it keeps getting better and better.
Clara and I did our first Stokercon this year, in Grand Rapids, and we loved it. I think she had a better time than I did!
I used to bemoan the fact that there were so few book dealers at conventions. Authors, sure. Publishers, absolutely. But no booksellers. So I did something about it. I got a dealer's table at Scares That Care for 2019, and it was a tremendous success. I sold a ton of hardcovers, paperbacks, movies, records, and my own book. I sold things I had read and was unable to keep, and we go to the thrift stores and library sales every single weekend looking for stuff to sell. There is not only a profit in it, I have a great time. I will be in business at Scares That Care 2020. I also have an application for a table at an SF con called Ravencon early next year.

Having the table at Scares That Care was straight up fun. I didn’t get to many author readings which is my favorite thing to do at cons but I got to talk with the authors visiting the table. And the readers. So many readers and book lovers. Mark didn’t mention our annual table at Monsterfest in Chesapeake, VA.

Yes, we've had a table for the last five or so years at a little con called Monsterfest, which is held at a library in Chesapeake, VA. Not a whole lot of readers there, for the most part, but this year I sold more books than ever before. I usually sell more vinyl records at Monsterfest.

I'll be attending at least three conventions/events in 2020. STC Wisconsin, STC Williamsburg, and one other that hasn't been announced.
Anyway, I want to go to more each year. STC is just amazing.
